Alistair Thorne, undertaking a massive architectural renovation of his property on Kempshott Lane in Basingstoke, created a wonderfully expansive, open-plan culinary space. He chose stunning, floor-to-ceiling fluted oak cabinetry to bring warmth and texture to the room. To anchor this vast space and complement the rich wooden elements, he needed a monumental stone surface. As a premier provider of luxury kitchen worktops, we knew that the dramatic, warm veining of Mono Calacatta Bronze would provide the perfect, show-stopping centrepiece.

The scale of this kitchen is truly magnificent. The undisputed focal point is the oversized central island, wrapped in the Mono Calacatta Bronze quartz and seated atop a beautifully crafted fluted wood base. This massive surface provides an unparalleled preparation and entertaining zone, harmonising effortlessly with the large-format, travertine-style stone flooring.

Equally impressive is the continuous, full-width, and full-height splashback that stretches across the entire rear wall. This immersive expanse of quartz showcases the stone’s bold bronze veins on a grand scale, protecting the walls whilst integrating a sleek inset sink and a flush-mounted modern hob, completing an incredibly high-end, bespoke British aesthetic.
