Naina Desai's Project

Naina Desai wanted to enhance, rather than completely redesign, her family kitchen. Living in St Albans with three young children, she needed a space that could handle busy mornings, family meals, and frequent entertaining while still feeling elegant and welcoming. While exploring different options for quartz worktops in St Albans, she realised the final transformation would come from choosing the right surface rather than changing the layout.

The cabinetry, layout, and central island already worked beautifully. Naina was looking for a surface that combined luxury with everyday durability while complementing the calm, family-focused design of the kitchen.

After comparing a range of materials and visiting more than one worktop showroom in the UK, she kept coming back to the same conclusion. That search eventually led her to the Calacatta Borghini quartz worktop.

Its bold yet refined veining introduced depth and movement without overpowering the neutral cabinetry. Installed across the island, perimeter worktops, and matching splashback, the quartz creates a seamless flow that naturally draws the eye through the space.

Natural light from the roof lanterns and glazed doors highlights the stone throughout the day, bringing subtle variation to the surface while keeping the kitchen bright and inviting. The finished result shows how the right worktop can completely transform a kitchen without changing the layout itself.
