Description
Iron Ore Quartz Worktop
Iron Ore is a 20mm/30mm engineered quartz worktop with a deep black base and fine gold and grey veining, designed for contemporary kitchens and statement islands. It’s nonporous, heat-resistant, and manufactured with 0% crystalline silica.
The black background gives real depth and drama, while the fine veining keeps the surface from feeling flat or one-note. If you’re looking to buy quartz worktop surfaces with a real contemporary edge, this is one of our boldest colours — striking against matt black cabinetry for a moody, monochrome look, or contrasted against pale units and warm timber for a sharper finish.
Where It Works Best
Iron Ore particularly suits contemporary kitchens, statement islands, and splashbacks where you want the worktop to carry visual weight. Because dark surfaces show dust, watermarks, and fingerprints more readily than lighter stones, it’s worth wiping down more often to keep the polished finish looking its best.
Built for daily use:
- Non-porous — resists stains and spills without sealing
- Naturally resistant to bacteria, hygienic for food prep
- High heat resistance for everyday cooking
- 25-year warranty, free samples available
Once your base units are ready, installation typically takes 5 working days. Available in 20mm or 30mm thickness, with slabs up to 3200mm x 1600mm — plenty of scope for long, minimal-join runs on a large island. If you’re comparing options for the best quartz worktop in the UK for a dark, dramatic finish, Iron Ore is one of our most requested statement colours.

Beautiful Quartz Worktops,
Built for Everyday Kitchens

Heat Resistant
Quartz worktops handle everyday kitchen heat well, making them a practical choice for busy cooking spaces. Using trivets for very hot pans is still recommended.

Scratch Resistant
Quartz is made to cope with daily use, from meal prep to family routines. It offers excellent scratch resistance, although chopping boards are always recommended.

Low Maintenance
No sealing, polishing or complicated cleaning routine. A simple wipe with warm water and mild soap is usually enough to keep your quartz worktops looking fresh.

Durable for Busy Homes
From morning coffee to evening cooking, quartz worktops are made for daily life. They offer long-lasting strength without losing their elegant look.

Stain Resistant
Tea, coffee, wine, oil and sauces are part of real kitchen life. Quartz surfaces are highly stain resistant and easy to wipe clean after everyday spills.

Made to Measure
Every quartz worktop is measured, cut and fitted to suit your kitchen layout, including sinks, hobs, islands, upstands and splashbacks.

Would you recommend a mitred edge with Iron Ore, or does a standard 20mm edge suit this pattern better?
Store manager Farzaneh –
Both are great options, but we’d generally recommend the standard 20mm edge for Iron Ore. It complements the subtle pattern really well, while a mitred edge is ideal if you’re looking for a chunkier appearance.
Stanley West –
Proper picky about dark joints as they usually stick out. Checked the seam under heavy light; fitters did a crisp job on the Iron Ore, barely visible. Monolux smashed the 5-day promise.
Store manager Farshad –
Hi there! Delighted our fitters did such a crisp, seamless job under the light and that we smashed our 5-day turnaround for you.
Enjoy your brilliant new iron ore worktops, and thanks for choosing Monolux!
Dale Crossley –
Heavy bit of stone but the lads handled it like absolute pros. Smooth installation and the seams are flawless.
Store manager Alex –
Hi there, thank you so much! We’re thrilled to hear that you’re happy with the smooth installation. Our fitting crew always strives for absolute perfection on the seams, so we’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to the lads. Enjoy your new stone worktops!
Leanne –
Service was spot on, just like they promised. My only tiny gripe is that it looks much darker if you don’t have good lighting, so I had to add some under-cabinet LEDs to really show it off.
Store manager Alex –
Thank you for the feedback!
You’ve hit on a great point, lighting can completely change how the depth of the stone looks. Under-cabinet LEDs are a fantastic way to really make those tones pop and show off the finish. We’re glad the service was spot on and that you’ve found the perfect way to highlight your new worktops!
