Julia and Lucas Santos' Project
For Julia and Lucas Santos, their Watford kitchen was never about creating a showpiece that looked untouched. It was about choosing a surface that could work beautifully in a real home — a kitchen used every day, filled with light, movement, cooking, cleaning, and family routines. On July 17, 2025, the final detail that brought the space together was the installation of a new quartz worktop, chosen for its calm elegance and everyday practicality.
The kitchen has a long, functional layout, with the main preparation area running beneath the window. This made the worktop choice especially important. The surface needed to feel bright and clean, but also strong enough to handle daily use around the sink, preparation zone, and cooking area. Mono Calacatta Borghini was selected for its soft white background and delicate grey veining, giving the kitchen a refined finish without making the space feel busy.
One of the most effective details in this project is the way the quartz continues up the wall behind the sink and along the splashback areas. Rather than stopping at the horizontal surface, the material rises vertically, creating a seamless and considered look. This gives the kitchen a more tailored feel, while also making the walls easier to maintain in the areas that see the most use.
The veining adds gentle
movement across the worktop, catching the natural light from the window and bringing depth to the otherwise clean, neutral palette. Paired with grey shaker-style cabinetry, warm wood flooring, and black appliances, the quartz creates a balanced contrast — brightening the room while keeping the overall look practical and understated.
For Julia and Lucas, investing in a luxury kitchen worktop was not simply about appearance. It was about choosing a material that would support the way they use their kitchen every day. Around the sink, along the preparation run, and behind the hob, the quartz provides a surface that feels durable, polished, and easy to live with.
When considering quartz worktop cost, this project shows why the right material can offer value beyond the initial installation. A well-chosen quartz surface can improve the overall feel of a kitchen, make daily maintenance easier, and add a lasting sense of quality to the space.
In this Watford home, Mono Calacatta Borghini gives the kitchen a brighter, more finished look. It does not overpower the room; instead, it quietly elevates it — creating a clean, practical, and elegant surface that feels made for everyday life.
