Arjun Malhotra Project

Located in the vibrant Bermondsey area of London, this contemporary kitchen was designed for 22-year-old Arjun Malhotra, a young chef who relocated to the capital to pursue his career within London’s fast-paced restaurant scene. Originally from Manchester, Arjun quickly fell in love with the energy of the city and now works at a modern fusion restaurant near Bermondsey Street — one of London’s most well-known destinations for independent restaurants, bars, and food culture.

Living independently for the first time, he wanted his home to reflect the same atmosphere he loved within the hospitality world: modern, relaxed, and effortlessly social. The kitchen was therefore designed with a bold contemporary aesthetic, combining dark moody tones with warm lighting and clean architectural lines to create a space that feels both sophisticated and inviting.

Light quartz worktops were selected to brighten the darker palette and introduce contrast throughout the room, while floating timber shelving and ambient pendant lighting soften the overall atmosphere and add warmth to the modern design. The oversized island naturally became the focal point of the kitchen — functioning equally as a prep station, casual dining space, and relaxed social hub when friends visit after work.

Every detail was carefully considered to reflect Arjun’s lifestyle and personality, resulting in a kitchen that feels stylish, youthful, and effortlessly connected to London’s contemporary dining culture. The final result is a space that balances modern masculinity with warmth and livability, perfectly suited to the rhythm of city life.
