For Chloe Ashford, the goal wasn’t to create a kitchen that shouted for attention.

Her West London home already had everything she wanted: generous proportions, warm oak cabinetry, and an open-plan layout that connected naturally with the rest of the living space. What was missing was a surface that could introduce character without overwhelming the design.

Many of the materials she considered felt either too busy or too plain. After exploring numerous options, Chloe found herself increasingly drawn towards Luxury Kitchen Worktops that could offer something more distinctive than a standard grey surface. She wanted a material that felt contemporary and practical while still bringing personality to the room.

That search eventually led her to Mono Silver Starburst.

After reviewing a variety of designs across different Quartz Collections, one surface consistently stood apart from the alternatives. Its soft grey base and delicate reflective detailing offered exactly the balance Chloe had been searching for.

At first glance, the worktops appear calm and understated, complementing the warmth of the timber cabinetry beautifully. But as daylight moves across the room, thousands of subtle reflective particles begin to reveal themselves, creating a gentle sparkle that gives the kitchen its unique identity.

“It’s one of those details people don’t notice straight away,” Chloe explains. “Then the light catches it and suddenly everyone is asking about the worktops.”

The generous island naturally became the focal point of the room, providing space for food preparation, casual dining, and everyday living. To maintain visual consistency, the same surface was continued throughout the kitchen across the perimeter worktops, upstands, and splashback areas.

One of Chloe’s favourite aspects of the finished installation is how different the worktops feel depending on the time of day. On overcast mornings, the surface appears sleek and sophisticated. By late afternoon and into the evening, the reflective flecks become more visible, introducing depth and movement without distracting from the overall design.

The finished result proves that impactful design doesn’t always require dramatic colours or bold veining. Sometimes the most memorable kitchens are created through carefully chosen materials that quietly transform the entire atmosphere of a space.
