Al-Farouq family Project

Located in Leicester, this project was completed in May 2025 for the Al-Farouq family, a busy Arab household with five children.

With family meals playing an important role in everyday life, the kitchen is one of the most frequently used spaces in the home. While the existing cabinetry remained in excellent condition, the worktops had begun to show their age and no longer offered the fresh, contemporary appearance the family wanted.

Initially, the Al-Farouq family explored several cheap quartz worktop options as they wanted a cost-effective solution without committing to a full kitchen renovation. However, they quickly realised that investing in a higher-quality surface would provide better long-term value for a household that relies so heavily on its kitchen every day.

Rather than replacing the entire kitchen, they focused on upgrading the worktops alone. The new quartz surfaces introduced a brighter and more refined appearance while complementing the soft grey shaker-style cabinetry already in place.

The family particularly appreciated the generous run of worktop beneath the large window, which provides valuable preparation space when cooking for a large household. The lighter surface also helps maximise natural light, creating a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere throughout the kitchen.

For a family of seven, durability was just as important as aesthetics. The new worktops delivered a practical solution for everyday cooking, family gatherings, and busy weekends while maintaining the timeless look they had hoped to achieve.

The finished result demonstrates how a carefully chosen worktop replacement can significantly improve the overall feel of a kitchen without changing its original layout or character.
