Declan Harrington, transforming his spacious property in the Broughton area of Milton Keynes, envisioned a highly dramatic and ultra-modern culinary environment. He opted for a bold, dark aesthetic, installing sleek, black, matte, handleless cabinetry that provides a deep, minimalist foundation. To break up the dark tones and introduce a striking visual contrast, he required a luminous, light-reflecting surface. Mono Calacatta Gold quartz was the perfect choice to serve as a brilliant, luxurious centrepiece.

The layout features an expansive U-shaped perimeter that effortlessly surrounds the room’s main attraction: a monumental central island. Completely wrapped in the bright Mono Calacatta Gold quartz, the island offers an immense, uninterrupted workspace that beautifully highlights the stone’s sweeping golden and grey veins.

On the perimeter run, the quartz continues beneath the large window, accommodating a sleek undermount stainless steel sink. To elevate both the functionality and the custom feel of the space, bespoke drainage grooves were precision-routed directly into the stone surface. Additionally, the quartz forms matching upstands and flows seamlessly into a fully clad, integrated quartz windowsill, creating a highly architectural and cohesive finish.
