Dominic Kingsley, undertaking a major renovation of his spacious property in the Shirley area of Southampton, aimed to create a breathtaking culinary space that seamlessly blended traditional British charm with high-tech modern functionality. He chose elegant blue-grey shaker-style cabinetry, beautifully grounded by a rustic stone flagstone floor. To perfectly contrast these matt and earthy textures and to maximise the light pouring in from the large panoramic window, he required a bright, light-reflecting surface. As a leading kitchen worktop specialist, we knew Mono Arctic Starburst quartz would provide the ultimate sparkling canvas.

The undeniable centrepiece of this Southampton kitchen is the monumental central island. Wrapped entirely in Mono Arctic Starburst, it provides a vast, luminous area for food preparation and socialising. This highly functional island features a state-of-the-art flush induction hob with an integrated downdraft extractor, ensuring the sightlines across the room and towards the three striking black industrial pendant lights remain completely unobstructed.

Along the perimeter, the sparkling white quartz flows flawlessly beneath the expansive window, housing a traditional white Belfast sink. Matching quartz upstands run neatly along the walls, offering a crisp, architectural seal that protects the freshly painted surfaces while tying the entire design together.
