For the Silva family, moving into their new Guildford home was the start of a fresh chapter. They were a family of three and wanted the house to feel more personal, practical, and suited to everyday life. The kitchen was one of the first spaces they focused on, and after changing the cabinets to a softer neutral tone with warm wood accents and brushed brass handles, the room immediately started to feel more considered.

Once the cabinetry was in place, the next decision was the worktop. The family wanted a surface that could lift the brightness of the space, work well with the brass details, and still feel practical for a busy home. Calacatta Classic quartz was chosen for its clean white base and soft grey veining, giving the kitchen a timeless marble-inspired finish without making the space feel too heavy.

The quartz now runs across the main L-shaped layout, covering the sink area, preparation space, and cooking run. Its polished surface reflects light coming through the window, helping the kitchen feel brighter and more open throughout the day. This quartz worktop colour helps balance the natural light with the neutral cabinetry, while the subtle veining adds quiet movement across the worktops. The gentle pattern works especially well with the warm handles and soft tones of the kitchen, creating a balanced look that feels elegant but still suitable for everyday family use.

A curved edge at the end of the run adds a softer finish to the layout and makes the kitchen feel more welcoming. For the Silva family, the worktop change became the final detail that brought the room together, turning a newly updated kitchen into a space that feels bright, practical, and ready for their new home.
