In the heart of Colchester, a young British couple — James and Olivia Harrington — had recently moved into their detached family home with their two children, bringing with them a clear vision: to create a kitchen that felt bright, durable, and genuinely suited to everyday family life.

For them, the kitchen was never just a cooking space. It was the centre of the home — where school mornings begin in a rush, where weekends slow down with baking sessions, and where evenings naturally end with everyone gathered around the island.

The existing interior already carried a calm, grounded feel. Soft sage-green cabinetry set a relaxed tone across the room, while warm oak flooring added depth and comfort underfoot. Large glazing at the rear of the property allowed natural daylight to flood in, constantly shifting the mood of the space throughout the day.

We installed this quartz across the full worktop layout, including the sink run, preparation areas, and the central island, all finished with matching upstands for a seamless and continuous flow. The crisp white base, enhanced with subtle crystalline movement, responds beautifully to natural light, helping the entire kitchen feel more open and airy.
