Alfred's Project

For Alfred Be, the goal was never to create the loudest kitchen in the room. Working in the technology sector and spending much of his time between Cambridge and London, he wanted a space that felt calm, refined, and easy to live with.

By early 2026, most of the kitchen was already exactly as he wanted it. The cabinetry worked well, the layout suited his lifestyle, and the room benefited from excellent natural light. The only decision left was choosing the surfaces that would bring the entire design together.

Alfred spent weeks comparing materials, samples, and finishes. While many surfaces looked impressive in a showroom, he was searching for something more timeless — a material that would still feel relevant years from now rather than following a short-lived trend. After reviewing a wide range of options across the quartz worktop market, he became increasingly focused on finding a surface that balanced elegance, practicality, and long-term value.

The answer came in the form of Mono Taj Mahal.

Its soft movement and warm neutral tones immediately stood apart from the alternatives. Rather than dominating the room, the surface added subtle depth and character while complementing the minimalist design language already present throughout the kitchen.

One of the aspects Alfred appreciated most was how naturally the worktops integrated with the existing space. The matching splashback sections and continuous surfaces created a cleaner, more architectural appearance without introducing unnecessary visual clutter. To maintain the same sense of consistency throughout the home, the material was also used for the vanity tops in both bathrooms, creating a seamless connection between the kitchen and adjoining living spaces.

Natural daylight plays a key role in the finished result. Throughout the day, the gentle detailing within the quartz becomes more apparent, adding warmth and texture while maintaining the calm atmosphere that originally attracted Alfred to the material.

The completed installation demonstrates that impactful design doesn’t always require dramatic changes. Sometimes the most successful interiors are defined by restraint, careful material selection, and a focus on quality where it matters most.
