Kabir Sharma's Project

In May 2026, Kabir Sharma set out to elevate his London kitchen without changing its layout, cabinetry, or overall design. The kitchen already worked well for daily life, but he felt the surfaces lacked the impact needed to bring the room together.

Rather than undertaking a major renovation, Kabir focused on the feature that would influence the space most: the worktops. After exploring several materials and comparing the best quartz worktop options, he selected Mono Calacatta Gold for its soft veining, timeless appearance, and ability to add character without overwhelming the room.

The large central island quickly became the focal point of the kitchen. With the new quartz installed across the island, perimeter worktops, and matching splashbacks, the entire space felt more cohesive and carefully considered. The delicate gold veining introduced warmth and movement while maintaining the bright, airy feel of the room.

One of the most successful aspects of the project was the decision to continue the material vertically onto the splashbacks. This created a seamless visual flow that enhanced the sense of scale and eliminated the need for additional wall finishes.

Although Priya initially researched several cheap quartz worktop alternatives, she ultimately decided that investing in a higher-quality surface would deliver better long-term value. The durability, low maintenance requirements, and premium appearance made quartz the obvious choice for a kitchen designed to be enjoyed for many years.

The completed installation demonstrates how the right worktop can transform the visual identity of a kitchen. Without altering the layout, cabinetry, or structure, the new surfaces introduced a level of sophistication and balance that now defines the entire room.
