Alistair Covington Project

Alistair Covington, renovating his spacious property in the coastal Southsea area of Portsmouth, aimed to create a highly functional, contemporary culinary space with a bold visual impact. He selected elegant light taupe cabinetry with classic metallic handles, complemented by traditional stone-effect floor tiles. To create a dramatic contrast against the light units and add a touch of modern glamour, he required a dark, light-catching surface. As a leading kitchen worktop specialist, we knew Graphite Ice quartz would provide the perfect, striking focal point.

The expansive layout is incredibly practical, featuring a large central island alongside a generous peninsula. The dark, sparkling Graphite Ice quartz flows seamlessly across the base units, offering an immense preparation area. A major architectural highlight of this design is the stunning waterfall edge on the peninsula, where the quartz drops flawlessly to the floor, brilliantly showcasing the stone’s reflective mirror flecks.

The work surfaces elegantly accommodate a modern flush hob and a sleek black undermount sink positioned thoughtfully beneath the window. The black sink perfectly complements the deep charcoal tones of the stone. To complete the tailored look, matching dark quartz upstands border the entire perimeter, providing a neat, wipe-clean seal that protects the freshly painted walls.
